Düsseldorf

Event Overview

The global energy transition and the simultaneously evolving landscapes of competition law enforcement and international business regulation are creating unprecedented legal challenges that transcend traditional practice boundaries. Modern legal practitioners must navigate interconnected issues where sustainability cooperation meets competition compliance, cross-border transactions face multilayered regulatory scrutiny, and emerging technologies trigger new enforcement approaches. This intersection of energy, antitrust, and international business law demands integrated expertise that reflects the realities of today's global economy.

The 2026 AIJA seminar in Düsseldorf will address these complex challenges. As a dynamic hub at the crossroads of European industry and regulation, Düsseldorf offers a unique setting to explore today’s most pressing legal challenges. Known for its strong antitrust tradition, international outlook, and proximity to key players in the energy and industrial sectors across the Ruhr region, the city offers the perfect backdrop to explore how legal frameworks can support and shape the transition to a more sustainable global economy. Topics include antitrust enforcement in digital and labor markets, sustainability cooperation under EU competition rules, green investment contracting, and the regulatory landscape for cross-border transactions. Further sessions will address ESG-driven contracting, renewable energy law, and legal questions around hydrogen, carbon capture, and resilient supply chains. Expert panels, case studies, and interactive debates will equip participants to navigate and shape the legal dimensions of the energy transition.

The International Business Law, Antitrust and Environmental & Energy Law Commissions look forward to welcoming young lawyers from around the world to engage with these timely topics in Düsseldorf.
