Event Overview
Based on the ABA book Lawyer Like an Athlete: How to Up Your Game at Work and in Life, this four-part CLE series translates insights from sports and cognitive-behavioral psychology into practical tools for thriving in the legal profession. Designed for attorneys who want to sustain excellence under high stress without compromising health or happiness, the series draws on elite athletic training methods to elevate stamina, focus, and mental agility in both professional and personal life.
Each session in this 4-part series will stand on its own, yet builds toward an integrated model of peak professional performance. Participants may attend individual webinars or the full sequence, which collectively fosters lasting habits for greater impact. Member Benefit webinars will be offered in March, June, September, and December 2026 and will be subsequently available on-demand.

Just as an athlete's performance depends on sustained conditioning, an attorney's success depends on building endurance across long, high-intensity roles. This webinar focuses on the science and psychology of resilience-how to recover quickly, adapt to change, and maintain forward motion through setbacks, adversity, and fatigue.
Participants will identify destructive thought patterns and learn tools to regulate attention, mood, and motivation, even amid long hours and heavy caseloads.
Emphasizing cognitive conditioning, attorneys will learn methods such as visualization, self-talk, reframing, and mindfulness-based practice to improve mental command. By replacing self-criticism with performance-focused affirmations, they learn to strengthen confidence and reduce depletion. The session underscores that endurance is not about toughness alone-it's about flexibility, awareness, and strategic recovery.
Integrating performance psychology with cognitive-behavioral science, this program equips attorneys with evidence-based strategies to bounce back faster, manage self-doubt, and stay grounded while achieving at the top of their game. The learning focus shifts from merely surviving stress to actively converting challenge into stamina and motivation.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize fatigue and frustration as predictable phases in performance cycles.
- Apply visualization and mental rehearsal to prepare for high-pressure situations.
- Master positive self-talk and thought conditioning to sustain confidence.
- Align personal routines with natural energy rhythms for maximum productivity.
- Use self-regulation techniques to sharpen focus and emotional composure.
